Exploring Falmouth, Jamaica: A Cruise Port Full of Culture and Adventure

Our second stop on Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas was Falmouth, Jamaica. We hadn’t planned much for the day besides doing a bit of shopping near the port. After chatting with some locals, we made an impromptu decision to hop in a taxi and head to Blue Waters Beach Club, just 10 minutes away—definitely recommend this as these crystal clear waters will not escape my mind!
Blue Waters Beach Club: A Tropical Escape
The beach was absolutely stunning, with crystal-clear, calm waters that felt like something straight off a postcard. It was exactly what we needed—a peaceful spot to relax, swim, and enjoy the Caribbean sunshine. We ended up sharing a van with two other families, which saved money but did take up a bit of extra time since we had to wait for everyone before heading back.
Tip: If you want to maximize your time at the beach, consider booking a private taxi instead of sharing. It gives you more flexibility and helps avoid unexpected stops. This didn't allow us enough time for shopping back at port.
Highlights of Our Day in Falmouth
Despite the shared taxi detour, the day was full of memorable moments:
1. Easy Beach Access
Cost: $20 per person for the round-trip taxi and a $10 entrance fee to Blue Waters Beach Club.
Perks: The entrance fee included Wi-Fi.
2. Delicious Jerk Chicken
Jamaica is famous for its jerk cuisine, and the food at Blue Waters Beach Club did not disappoint! While the meal wasn’t included in the entrance fee, we happily paid extra for some incredible, smoky, spicy jerk chicken that I could honestly eat every day. Being a foodie my souvenir was purchasing all the jerk sauces and seasonings to make it at home!
3. A Mini Tour of Jamaica’s History
Our taxi driver was amazing—he gave us a mini-tour on the way to the beach, sharing interesting facts about Jamaica and even stopping to show us the school where Usain Bolt, the legendary Olympic sprinter, attended. It was such a cool, unexpected part of the day and gave us a deeper connection to the island’s culture.
Final Thoughts
Falmouth, Jamaica, exceeded our expectations with its combination of stunning beaches, delicious food, and fascinating history.
