My First Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!
By: April Steckman
October 30, 2025
Walt Disney World hosts several special ticketed events throughout the year. While the Christmas Party may be the most famous, I chose to experience Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) — and it did not disappoint!
Here’s what you should know before you go:
The Basics
On select nights, Magic Kingdom closes early to regular guests for the party. (Good to know if you’re not attending!)
MNSSHP guests can enter the park as early as 4 PM, while day guests must exit by 7 PM.
The party officially runs from 7 PM to midnight (sometimes until 1 AM).
These events are separate-ticketed and typically cost more than a standard park ticket.
Special treats and snacks are available exclusively during the party.
You can trick-or-treat throughout the park — Disney provides the bag and the candy portions are generous!
Enjoy party-exclusive parades, fireworks, and live shows.
Most rides remain open — and a few feature Halloween overlays.
Special character meet-and-greets pop up around the park.
The event runs from late August through Halloween night — and yes, they sell out quickly, especially near October 31!
Costumes are encouraged — one of the few times adults can dress up in the parks!
It can still be hot in Florida, so choose your costume wisely.
What I Learned from My Visit
Even though it’s a limited-ticket event, expect crowds. We lucked out with only a 30-minute wait for Tron, but most rides averaged 60 minutes or more.
A few tips from my experience:
Grab an event guide as soon as you enter! It lists parade times, show schedules, treat trails, and more.
Make a plan ahead of time. Decide what matters most — characters, rides, treats, or shows — so you don’t spend your evening backtracking.
Some rides have spooky surprises! (Like Space Mountain… in total darkness! 😱)
Hydrate and pace yourself. Even at night, the Florida heat can sneak up on you.
I went in with a “wing it” attitude, but learned that a plan makes all the difference. This is exactly where a Wishes Family Travel Advisor can help — we’ve been there, we know the flow, and we’ll help you create the perfect party plan for your family’s priorities.
