My favorite moderate resort at Walt Disney World—and truly one of my favorites overall—recently unveiled its redesigned guest rooms, and they are even more charming in person! Full of Southern elegance and sprinkled with Disney magic, the refreshed rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter offer a delightful blend of comfort, character, and culture. I was thrilled to experience the updated accommodations firsthand during my March 2025 visit.
A Fresh Look Full of Southern Charm
These newly refurbished rooms include:
Elegant new headboards and raised bed frames
A spacious dresser and added seating area
Enhanced storage solutions and plenty of extra outlets
Sliding barn-style bathroom doors for added privacy
Individual reading lights at each bed
Both a backlit makeup mirror and a full-length mirror in every bathroom
You’ll even find the addition of the Hey Disney! voice assistant in many rooms, adding a little extra pixie dust to your stay.
Disney Details You’ll Love
What truly sets these rooms apart are the thoughtful nods to The Princess and the Frog and New Orleans culture. From Mardi Gras–ready portraits of Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, Louis, and Charlotte, to jazz instruments, beaded mosaics, and even Tiana’s tiara hidden in the décor—every corner tells a story.
There are hidden Mickeys to discover, of course, but also hidden tributes to the spirit of New Orleans. Whether it's the detailing on the bathroom doors or the artwork on the walls, the extra layers of magic make these rooms feel like a true home away from home.
The Full Experience
This was my third stay at Port Orleans French Quarter—and definitely not my last! The garden seating areas, boat transportation to Disney Springs, and serene river views remain as lovely as ever. And yes, I’m happy to confirm that the powdered sugar–covered Mickey beignets are still absolutely delicious!
From the beauty of the grounds to the warmth of the updated rooms, everything about this resort makes it an unforgettable experience for families, couples, and solo travelers alike.
