Does Epic Hold Up to Its Name? Spoiler: Absolutely.

Since getting back, the question I keep hearing is, “Does Epic Universe live up to its name?” And honestly—yes, it does.

Universal Orlando’s newest theme park opens May 22, 2025, and it’s unlike anything I’ve experienced. With five immersive lands—Super Nintendo World, Isle of Berk (How to Train Your Dragon), Wizarding World: Ministry of Magic, Dark Universe, and the central hub, Celestial Park—each feels like stepping into an entirely new realm, accessed through stunning themed portals known as the Chronos.

Super Nintendo World

This land is pure fun. Between the vibrant characters, interactive Power-Up Bands, and creative attractions, it really is like stepping into Mario Party. Although I couldn’t ride everything due to size restrictions, I did experience Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, and simply walking through Bowser’s Castle was worth it.

Lunch at Toadstool Café included a decent Mario Burger and some amazing crinkle-cut fries. I’m already counting down the days until I can try the DK Crush Float in August. Even with a few missed experiences, I give Super Nintendo World a strong 5/5 stars—it’s colorful, high-energy, and full of nostalgia.

How to Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk

This land surprised me the most. I went in expecting it to be my least favorite, and left wanting my own dragon.

The theming is incredible—wood carvings, dragons, and bold Viking colors everywhere. The Spectacle of the Untrainable Dragon was absolutely adorable (seeing Toothless fly overhead gave me chills), and the Hiccup & Toothless meet-and-greet was well worth the hour-long wait.

While a few attractions were temporarily down and I skipped the Fyre Drill water ride, I loved the PB&J Mac & Cheese Cone from Spit Fyre Grill. For creativity, atmosphere, and charm, Isle of Berk gets 4/5 stars from me.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic

The land I was most excited for—and it did not disappoint. As a lifelong Harry Potter fan, I was in awe.

Set in 1920s Paris, the level of detail is astounding. There are roaming characters, immersive shops, and a unique wand experience at Cosme Acajor Baguettes Magique that I absolutely loved. Although I didn’t get a chance to ride Battle of the Ministry (limited virtual queue drops), just walking the queue—available pre-3 p.m. during previews—was enough to move me to tears.

And the $19.99 Butterbeer Crêpe from Café L’air De La Sirène? Hands-down one of the best theme park treats I’ve ever had. This land earns an effortless 5/5 stars.

Dark Universe

This area caught me off guard—in the best way.

Darkmoor Village is creepy, fun, and full of cleverly themed details. I loved the witty signage, the atmosphere, and interacting with the Invisible Man and other surprise characters. Though I wasn’t able to ride Monsters Unchained, I’m happy to report that modified seats are coming soon.

The Hunter’s Garlic Stake Pretzel from Burning Blade Tavern was surprisingly delicious—and perfectly on brand. Despite limited character availability, Dark Universe earns a solid 4/5 stars.

Celestial Park

Serving as the central hub of Epic Universe, Celestial Park is calm, beautiful, and ideal for a midday recharge.

We didn’t explore too much since we were full and Stardust Racers was closed for scheduled maintenance. But the space itself is open, peaceful, and artistically designed. I’m looking forward to trying Pizza Moon next time. For now, I’ll give it 3/5 stars, simply because I didn’t get to experience it fully.

Final Thoughts

Even though I only rode one attraction, I had an incredible time and felt completely immersed in every land. The detail, the creativity, and the overall energy of Epic Universe make it an unforgettable destination.

I’m so grateful to Universal, our amazing Business Development Manager, and Wishes Family Travel for making this once-in-a-lifetime preview possible. It’s a trip I’ll never forget—and one I can’t wait to help others experience, too.

Honorable Mention: The Coca-Cola Freestyle Cup

If you go, get the cup! For $23 on day one and just $11 per day after, you’ll enjoy unlimited refills of water, soda, Vitamin Water, and more. You can also fill your own water bottle at the stations. It’s a total game-changer in the Florida heat—and helps save on drinks throughout the day.
